Apple Inc. developed and designed a lineup of smart technologies which range from smartphones to smartwatches. One of the well-known Apple innovations is the smartwatch which concentrates on fitness and health applications. All Apple smartwatches run on watchOS with a circular app icon interface on home screens which supports primary Apple products and services such as Messages, Mail, Music, Maps, Stocks, and Photos.
The first generation of Apple smartwatch debuted on April 24, 2015, with approximately 4.2 million sold products, while Apple released the two-tier second generation watches in September 2016. Meanwhile, Apple released the third generation of Apple Watch in September 2017. It includes various features such as a built-in step tracker, faster processor, and a bigger memory space. However, Series 3 watches are only compatible with iPhone 5S or later models to enable the cellular functionalities of the device.
This year, Apple officially sent an invite to technology experts and analysts on an event on the 12th of September, Wednesday, at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. They did not announce the specifics, but it seems that they will launch three new iPhone models, iPad Pro designs, and the fourth generation of Apple Watch. Will it be the top smartwatch and most significant development today? Here is a sneak peak of the Apple Watch 4 rumored specifications, features, price, and leaks.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a top analyst of smart technologies, predicted that the new generation of Apple Watch Series 4 will have a bigger screen display compared to the 38mm or 42mm dimensions of the past models. He also believes that the new smartwatch will have a major redesign since its first debut in 2015 — improved battery capacity and a click-free button which vibrates on a slight tap of the fingertip through the Taptic Engine.
On a Monday Keynote on Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled two significant features of the fourth generation Apple Watch — watchOS 5 and Walkie-Talkie app.
Some fitness upgrades of the new watchOS 5 include an automatic workout tracking which alerts the users if they neglected to commence a workout and grants credit for an unrecorded exercise. It also measures the heart rate of the user at the end of every workout. Moreover, Apple also added yoga and hiking improvements, power playlist stream in Apple Music, and tools for professional runners like adding cadence.
Furthermore, the Walkie-Talkie App is also a new feature from watchOS 5. It allows real-time messaging by tapping a yellow dot which will appear at the Apple Watch display when someone connects. It also works similar to an intercom with only short messages instead of long calls over a Wi-Fi cellular-connected network or Bluetooth-enabled watches with smartphones.
According to several tech-buying industries like TechRadar, 9to5mac, CNET, and macworld.co, the foreseen starting price of an Apple smartwatch will be around $329 given that the third generation Apple Watch costs $329 and $399 for 38mm GPS-only and a cellular network, respectively. However, the device will have a higher cost for 42mm dimension with LTE connectivity and added case or strap.
